Jacara Egan

Head Of Operations, First Nations Cultural Practice and Engagement

Headspace

Jacara is a Muthi Muthi/Gunditjmara woman who lives and works in Naarm(Melbourne) on Wurundjeri country.

Jacara started at headspace National in March 2023 and has a breadth of experience in Mental Health in both adult and youth mental health services.

As National Cultural and Clinical advisor, Jacara works to embed culturally safe clinical practice as well as utilising Aboriginal ways of healing via the Social and emotional wellbeing framework to improve service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

Jacara is passionate about holding space to educate people, combining and honouring different knowledge systems to improve overall health and wellbeing. When not working with headspace Jacara has been working in an ambassadorial capacity with Change our Game Victoria and is a current AFLW assistant coach with the Coates Talent League to work towards gender equity and cultural safety in sport.
